The Good Treatment of the Mother and Father in Light of the Quran and Sunnah.

  There is no doubt that good treatment of parents is from the most important and greatest of obligations of Islam. Allah mentions this tremendous matter in numerous places in his Book: وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا ۚ إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَا أُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوْلًا كَرِيمًا – 17:23 “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him.  And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour .” وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا – 17:24 “And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say:  “My Lord! Repent for your Sins, Attain Forgiveness through Good Treatment of your Parents and Rectify your Life by Occupying yourself with Righteous Deeds.

Let us continue with this tremendous work of Imām al-Bukhārī (rahimahullāhu ta’ālā) titled “al-Adab al-Mufrad” with the explanation of ash-Shaykh al-‘Allāmah Zayd bin Muhammad al-Madkhalī (rahimahullāhu ta’ālā) with additional comments from myself (Abu Khadeejah). Part 3. From the hadīths of Imām al-Bukhārī in “Al-Adab Al-Mufrad” on the Prophetic manners of the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) we have the next hadeeth that he narrates with his chain of narration: Imām Al-Bukhari said,  Sa’īd ibn Abī Maryam narrated to us, saying that Muhammad bin Ja’far bin Abī Kathīr informed us, saying that Zayd bin Aslam informed us from ‘Atā’ bin Yasār from Ibn ‘Abbās (radhiyallāhu ‘anhumā) that a man came to ‘Abdullāh Ibn ‘Abbās and he said, “I asked a woman to marry me and she refused.
