All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all creation, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his Companions. Hadeeth Six: “It is prohibited for a woman to resemble men in clothing, behaviour, speech and so on.” Ibn ‘Abbās (radiyallāhu ‘anhumā) said: لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الْمُتَشَبِّهِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ بِالنِّسَاءِ، وَالْمُتَشَبِّهَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ بِالرِّجَالِ‏ “ Allah’s Messenger (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) cursed the men who resemble and imitate women; and the women who resemble and imitate men.”  (Al-Bukhāri, no. 5885) Benefits and lessons: This hadeeth is proof of the prohibition of men resembling and imitating women and of women resembling and imitating men in the way they speak, dress, walk, behave and so on. Abu Hurayrah narrated: لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الرَّجُلَ يَلْبَسُ لِبْسَةَ الْمَرْأَةِ وَالْمَرْأَةَ تَلْبَسُ لِبْسَةَ الرَّجُلِ “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed the man ...

Look at the person you are proposing to marry by Shaikh Al-Fawzān.

Al-Hāfidh Ibn Hajr said: 974-976. Narrated Jaabir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) who said that Allah’s Messenger (salallāhu alaihi wasallam) said: “When one of you proposes to a woman for marriage, if he is able to look at what will induce him to marry her, he should do so.”  Reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawood, and all the narrators in the chain are trustworthy. Al-Haakim graded it as Saheeh.[1] The narration also has support with what is narrated by at-Tirmidhi and an-Nasā’i from al-Mugheera [2] Also reported by Ibn Maajah and Ibn Hibbaan from the hadeeth of Muhammad Ibn Maslamah.[3] Shaikh Sālih al-Fawzān said: This hadeeth proves that is permitted in the Shariah to look at the one proposed to. So if a person intends to marry a woman, and desires to marry her regardless of whether he has already proposed to her or not; then it is recommended that he looks at her – towards that which will induce him and place in him a desire for her, so that he becomes well-acquainted with the one he is ab...

Women should not wear tight-fitting clothes and thin materials outside the home (dressed yet naked)―or have humps like camels on their heads, nor call other women to their sins. Abu Hurayrah narrated that Allah’s Messenger (salallāhu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: صِنْفَانِ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ لَمْ أَرَهُمَا قَوْمٌ مَعَهُمْ سِيَاطٌ كَأَذْنَابِ الْبَقَرِ يَضْرِبُونَ بِهَا النَّاسَ وَنِسَاءٌ كَاسِيَاتٌ عَارِيَاتٌ مُمِيلاَتٌ مَائِلاَتٌ رُءُوسُهُنَّ كَأَسْنِمَةِ الْبُخْتِ الْمَائِلَةِ لاَ يَدْخُلْنَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلاَ يَجِدْنَ رِيحَهَا وَإِنَّ رِيحَهَا لَيُوجَدُ مِنْ مَسِيرَةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا “There are two categories of people of Hell whom I have not yet seen: a group having whips like the tails of oxen with which they will beat people. And women who will be dressed but appear to be naked―they will incline to evil and make others incline to it. Their heads will be like the humps of a two-humped camel inclined to one side. They will not enter Paradise and they will not smell its fragrance even...
